New U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Bald and Golden Eagle Programmatic Take Rule Extends Permit Term to 30 Years

On 9 December the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service issued a final rule that will extend the duration of programmatic bald and golden eagle take permits from five years to 30 years for wind farms, transmission projects, and other long-term energy operations. See 78 Fed. Reg. 73704 (9 December 2013). The rule goes into effect on 8 January 2014.
