NDRC Actions Show Broadened Scope of Antitrust Enforcement in China

On 1 August 2013, China celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Anti-Monopoly Law’s (‘‘AML’’) enforcement. For the greater part of the AML’s first five years, the National Development and Reform Commission (‘‘NDRC’’) sparingly exercised its power under the AML to investigate and penalize anti-competitive behavior. However, recently, NDRC has begun to flex its muscles and intensify enforcement.
