MRI V. National Imaging May Signal New Litigation Trend

Plaintiffs’ side lawyers in the health insurance sector have fired an opening salvo in the post-health care reform environment, filing an Affordable Care Act-related class action that may presage a new trend in litigation against health insurers. Recently, plaintiff MRI Scan Center LLC, a Florida imaging provider, filed a purported nationwide class action in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida against CIGNA and two of the companies that administer CIGNA members’ imaging claims.[1]
