IMF head says central banks should explore digital currencies

The Managing Director of the Internal Monetary Fund (IMF) has called for central banks to consider the possibility of issuing digital currency, as "money itself is changing" and demand for cash is decreasing.

Speaking at the Singapore Fintech Festival, Christine Lagarde touched on the changing nature of money and the FinTech revolution before reviewing the benefits and downsides of central bank digital currencies.
