Hong Kong regulator recognises potential of blockchain but warns against ICOs

An executive director of Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has said that although blockchain can have positive uses, the public should be wary about the fundraising linked to the technology.

Speaking at an investment industry function, Julia Leung said that the fact that blockchain can be used to drive efficiency does not give anyone a free card to use the technology to raise funds in breach of regulations.
