Global Policy Advocacy - Case Study: Assisting Native Peoples in Recovering Ancestral Habitats

01 May 2012

Client Notes

Hogan Lovells has for many years advised and represented U.S. Indian tribes on an expansive range of matters, including litigation, business, real estate, tax, and financial issues and questions relating to U.S. policies towards Native Americans. One area of U.S. law and policy of current interest relates to recovering hunting and fishing grounds that had been relied upon for sustenance by native peoples for centuries, if not millennia. Dam removal and river restoration—both for environmental reasons and to help native peoples who depended on those rivers—is now of special concern and increased attention.
