On September 22, 2009, the UK Office of Fair Trading announced its decision that 103 construction firms had infringed UK competition law (the Construction Cartel). They were fined a total of £129.5 million for engaging in bid-rigging activities, mostly in the form of “cover pricing” – a breach of the Chapter I prohibition of the Competition Act 1998.
