FCA "optimistic" on blockchain but "anxious" about cryptocurrencies

The Financial Conduct Authority Director of Competition has said that while blockchain offers many useful applications and can help improve financial markets, the technology also presents many risks to consumers and competition.

Speaking at the Authority for Consumers & Markets Conference Panel in the Netherlands on 26 April 2018, Mary Starks said that, as a financial regulator, her thoughts on blockchain fall into two groups.
