Expanded sanctions against Syria

Sanctions Alert

Yesterday the United States government expanded sanctions against Syria. President Obama issued an Executive Order naming President Bashar Al-Assad of Syria and other top Syrian officials as Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDNs), in light of the escalating violence by the government of Syria against its own citizens. These designations block (freeze) the property and interest in property of these individuals, effectively prohibiting U.S. persons from engaging in transactions involving these individuals.
