EU says cryptoassets are "here to stay" and ICOs are a "viable form of alternative financing"

The Vice-President of the European Commission for the Euro and Social Dialogue has admitted that cryptoassets and initial coin offerings (ICOs) are now well established and not going anywhere.

Speaking at the press conference after a meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) at the end of last week, Valdis Dombrovskis said that work is ongoing on the "regulatory mapping of cryptoassets", with EU Member States supporting such a move.
