On July 20, 2016, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) removed the lesser prairie chicken (LPC) from the list of threatened or endangered species, 10 months after a U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas determined that FWS erred in finding the LPC "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act.
