The Equator Principles were established five years ago as a voluntary and collective framework for lenders to address environmental and social risks in project finance transactions. Recent developments in environmental due diligence and carbon-neutral financing suggest that the Equator Principles should be updated to include a more comprehensive approach to evaluating carbon risk.
