Bank of England to test DLT use in new settlement system

The Bank of England (BoE) has announced that it is undertaking a proof of concept to establish ways its real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system could interact with distributed ledger networks.

In May 2017, the BoE issued the RTGS blueprint, saying that "the renewed service would offer a diverse and flexible range of settlement models", to enable existing and emerging payment infrastructures to access central bank money.
