All Eyes on Switzerland

During a crisis, people look to political leaders for guidance and they count upon them to restore confidence. In the current worldwide financial crisis such expectations might be unrealistic, but the crisis will undoubtedly sound the death knell for a number of governments throughout the world. One of the darkest political acts involves focusing on matters which lighten the pressure that is placed upon those in power and, instead, using scapegoats to channel the public's frustration, if only temporarily. Over the last few weeks the scapegoat has been Switzerland along with a number of small countries who have the audacity to have laws regulating bank secrecy.
