Access to capital markets for small and medium enterprises (SMEs)

It is public knowledge that the newly re-elected President Joko Widodo has a grand vision to transform the national economy of Indonesia from a country that relies upon its abundant natural resources into a country with manufacturing and service sectors which are able to compete in the region.

It is expected that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be the main contributor to the national economy, which in turn will create new job opportunities for Indonesian citizens. The newly-elected minister of cooperatives and SMEs for the second-term cabinet 2019-2024, Minister Teten Masduki, has publicly stated that he intends to implement this vision by empowering the more than 60 million active Indonesian SMEs.
