2017: A year ahead for the financial institutions sector
With contributors across the sector and the globe, we've compiled a review of some of the developments that will affect financial institutions in 2017 and beyond. The one thing that 2016 taught us was to expect the unexpected but there is certainty on some changes in the pipeline.
Brexit will continue to be at the top of boardroom agendas and newspaper columns for the foreseeable future as the Government works out its negotiation plans for the UK's exit from the EU. Our work with TheCityUK and the BBA should help the financial institutions sector ensure its voice is heard in this process.
The FinTech space continues to be one to watch, with many predicting major breakthroughs in Blockchain and RegTech and with InsurTech developments picking up pace. You can find out more in our review and from our strategic partners, Innovate Finance, at its Global Summit in London, 10-11 April.
It is also essential to prepare for a varied mix of regulation coming into force across the sector over the next year, be that MiFID II, PSD2, PRIIPS, MLD4 or IDD. You can get the latest status and our expectations for these regulations and more in our review.
We look forward to an eventful 2017 and the opportunities and challenges it will bring.
