Poopak Nourafchan has a diverse and varied litigation practice, ranging from a deep knowledge of entertainment, media, and intellectual property, to healthcare and antitrust. In her years of practice, she has been involved in all aspects of litigation for Fortune 500 companies and has trial court, appellate, and arbitration and mediation experience.

She represents clients in both state and federal court in complex commercial disputes and class actions. Poopak also defends companies against consumer protection claims brought under California's Unfair Competition Law (section 17200) and false advertising statute (section 17500), she also advises her clients on how to proactively protect themselves from litigation exposure.


Representative experience

Obtained dismissal of putative class action against large health insurance company that allegedly disseminated false or misleading marketing materials.

Represented a motion picture studio and distribution company in copyright and trademark dispute over rights to make a series of iconic motion pictures.

Represented provider of in-store shelf signage and free-standing inserts in connection with various state and federal antitrust and advertising claims.

Obtained Ninth Circuit ruling on behalf of a motion picture studio, reversing district court's denial of personal jurisdiction over German national.
