Matthew J. Piehl

Healthcare and life science companies rely on Matthew Piehl to provide strategic guidance on fraud and abuse regulatory issues, antitrust merger counseling and advocacy, and corporate compliance. He combines substantial experience and sharp insight to guide clients through investigations, mergers and acquisitions, and industry compliance.

Matthew helps clients navigate challenging regulatory compliance problems – especially healthcare fraud and abuse matters – to allow them to build and expand business relationships that aid patients and consumers.

Matthew also possesses deep experience advising clients in the areas of antitrust compliance and merger enforcement. Matthew counsels clients throughout the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act process, and has successfully represented clients before the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

He regularly counsels and represents clients on similar matters in other industries, including manufacturing and food and agriculture. Matthew is an active member of the ABA Section of Antitrust Law.

In law school, he served as an editor for the Virginia Journal of International Law. Prior to law school, Matthew worked with the North Carolina Office of Rural Health to develop a program to tackle childhood obesity.
