As a senior associate in our Financial Institutions group, Philippa Verrecchia focuses on financial services law and regulation. She has wide-raging experience of advising clients in the wholesale and retail investment markets, helping them understand and manage legal risk associated with operating in the sector. She has a detailed knowledge of the UK requirements relating to authorization and permission, regulatory compliance, product and service documentation, governance processes, and outsourcing, distribution, investment, custody and administration arrangements. Philippa trained with Hogan Lovells and has focused on UK and EU financial services law since qualifying in 2007. She has the experience of secondments to Barclays Wealth and Investment Management legal and Lloyd's Banking Group operations and commercial legal.
Philippa has well-established relationships with leading wealth managers, life insurers and pension providers, including Barclays, AXA, and Prudential, to whom she gives advice on a range of issues, including their client-facing documentation, product design, distribution channels and regulatory compliance structures. She assists clients' with their key interactions with the UK regulators, including applications for authorization, changes in control and approved persons. She has also advised on a number of material outsourcing, corporate transactions and restructurings for clients, including for Lloyd's Banking Group, AXA and Santander. Philippa has a masters degree in law from Trinity College, Cambridge and passed her legal practice course at London's BPP with distinction.
