Philipp Simon focuses on intellectual property law, especially on disputes and negotiations involving patent law and licensing. He advises national and international clients on all aspects of intellectual property litigation, especially in the areas of patent and utility model infringement proceedings, as well as nullity actions at the German Federal Patent Court (Bundespatentgericht) and opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office.

Philipp studied law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich and mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich. His mechanical engineering studies helped him to gain a quick understanding and comprehension of technical matters. Philipp gained experience in the field of patent law working at the European Patent Office, a prosecuting patent law firm as well as in the IP-practice groups of several international law firms.

He conducted his legal traineeship at the Higher District Court (Oberlandesgericht) of Munich, clerking for the 21st civil chamber at the LG Munich I, responsible for, inter alia, patent infringement actions as well as with a twelve-month time as law clerk at Hogan Lovells in Munich and London.

Before joining Hogan Lovells as an Associate, Philipp worked at the Chair for Civil Law and Intellectual Property Law with Information Law and IT-Law at the LMU Munich with Professor Dr. Matthias Leistner.
