Philipp A. Schmieta

In addition to advising clients on complex project-related conflicts, Philipp also represents (international) sponsors and (general) contractors in court or arbitration proceedings (basically DIS and ICC). He has vast experience in drafting and negotiating the full range of international project documentation, including project agreements, EPC and EPC subcontracts, financing documentation, O&M agreements and project M&A agreements, as well as in project-related advice (claim management).

Philipp has deep industry know-how, particularly in the field of power plant construction, oil & gas, geothermal energy and offshore wind. He is a member of our Infrastructure, Energy, Resources and Projects Practice Group.

Representative Experience

Advising a German general contractor in arbitrations with its subcontractors and the operator of a pulp mill with respect to several defects.

Claim management during erection phase for an operator of a German offshore wind farm.

Advising a leading German energy supplier in contract negotiations regarding geotechnical investigation services for an offshore wind farm.

Advising a German subcontractor on enforcement of remuneration claims against the Chinese general contractor of a hydropower project in Pakistan.
