Responsible for business development and creating effective marketing strategies for Private Equity. Pawel Chodzinski combines his legal (Advocate) background with his tax knowledge (Qualified Tax Adviser) optimally building experience upon in-depth knowledge of all facets of tax with a greater focus on the Private Equity sector and M&A transactions. Pawel also focuses in fiscal white-collar proceedings and effective defense strategy preparation and reviews for corporates and directors. Whether international tax planning, providing tax related advice on M&As, restructuring transactions involving leading domestic companies or transactions within the framework of international capital groups, Pawel, as a lawyer with an extensive understanding of tax regulations, provides full transactional tax support for clients acting at a local, and cross border basis.

Pawel, as an advocate and qualified tax adviser, also successfully represents his clients in tax litigation, including white-collar crime cases. Pawel provides business oriented advice concerning the tax aspects of various financial instruments and on-going activities to companies across a number of sectors including energy and fuels, automotive, IT, pharmaceutical, real estate, and the financial sector including leasing companies and banks. His main areas of knowledge and experience are investment and private equity fund taxation, and private wealth taxation. Pawel is a national commentator for the IBFD on transfer pricing in Poland, and Bloomberg's 'VAT Navigator' know-how toll. Pawel is also active in CSR projects. He was director at the British Alumni Society (BAS) - an NGO acting for professionals with the shared experience of studying in the UK. He is also the coordinator for pro-bono legal and tax advice in cooperation with Centrum PRO BONO. In 2009 Rzeczpospolita commended him as a member of the best team involved in the tax pro-bono work.

Developing and introducing tax optimizations for banks allowing the recognition of losses on the sale of bad debts as tax deductible costs for CIT purposes.

Assisted a Benelux based corporation on the tax aspects of a greenfield project production site located in a Polish SEZ.

Advised a private equity fund on alternative tax optimization structures for carried-interest.

Provided full coverage tax advice on the disposal process of an insurance business in Poland.

Advised the JV of a top Polish developer and international investment fund on the acquisition of a high-end luxurious residential skyscraper.

Successfully representing the Polish subsidiary of a large US client in a white-collar fiscal offence proceeding involving its top management.

Involved in a number of proceedings representing clients before the tax authorities and administrative courts which concluded with obtaining positive tax rulings.
