Matatias (Mat) Parente has advised clients throughout the lifespan of large-scale infrastructure and engineering projects across the globe. He has helped clients navigate through all aspects of the delivery of projects, from the drafting and negotiation of contracts, to contract administration, claims management and the avoidance and resolution of disputes.

As part of the International Arbitration and Construction and Engineering Disputes team, his practice is now focused on assisting clients to avoid or resolve complex disputes whichever the dispute resolution mechanism. Mat has represented clients in construction arbitration and litigation (in Brazil and in England) as well as adjudication, negotiation and mediation.

He has advised and acted for employers, main contractors, consultants and sub-contractors in projects in Europe, South America and Africa across industries such as oil and gas, refinery and petrochemical projects, mining, energy (including renewables) and shipbuilding.

Having in-house experience in Brazil and Europe, Mat understands the needs of in-house lawyers. He can also work effectively with multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary teams to devise practical and business-oriented solutions.
