Nitya Anand leverages her scientific training and litigation experience to advise leading life sciences, chemical, and technology companies on patent and intellectual property matters, translating complex legal issues and technical information into winning arguments in both the courtroom and the boardroom.
An experienced trial litigator, Nitya develops and implements successful case strategies in both judge and jury trials in district courts as well as in proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, U.S. International Trade Commission, and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She is keenly aware of the important role IP plays in her clients’ overall business objectives and adeptly tailors her advice and arguments to help companies achieve their goals from the pre-litigation stage through damages and appeals. Nitya has significant experience in the pharmaceutical (small molecules and biologics), chemical, agricultural, and medical device industries, and thrives on framing and simplifying the complicated technical issues of those fields into judge-, jury-, and stakeholder-friendly analyses. She also regularly assists clients with due diligence in support of the purchase or sale of drugs or royalty streams, patent prosecution, infringement and validity opinion assessments, and IP licensing.
Prior to practicing law, Nitya worked in diversity and inclusion affairs in a university setting. She continues to champion diversity and inclusion efforts both internally at Hogan Lovells as a representative in firm committees and externally through membership in South Asian bar associations and through her pro bono and mentorship efforts.
