United States Navy to Christen Virginia-class Submarine Honoring Hogan Lovells’ Senior Advisor Senator John Warner

Washington, D.C., 4 September 2014 – On Saturday, 6 September 2014, The United States Navy will hold the traditional ceremony of christening a United States new submarine SSN 785 of the Virginia Class at Newport News Shipbuilding.

The vessel will be named the U.S.S. John Warner, honoring the Senator who held various public offices including Secretary of the Navy, and was an enlisted seaman in the Navy in the last year of World War II. His wife is the sponsor and will be cracking the traditional bottle of champagne on the bow at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET Saturday. A live webcast of the event will be carried on the website www.warnerchristening.com, which will go live at approximately 5:00 p.m. ET.
