The Legal Intelligencer recognizes Hogan Lovells Litigation team members Ginny Gibson and Adrienne Gittens
Philadelphia, 8 July 2019 – Hogan Lovells partner Virginia (Ginny) Gibson was named as one of three finalists for “Attorney of the Year” and senior associate Adrienne Gittens was honored as a “Lawyer on the Fast Track” at The Legal Intelligencer’s Professional Excellence Awards. These prestigious awards recognize their accomplishments in both the professional and personal spheres, reflecting a commitment to the Pennsylvania community.
The “Attorney of the Year” award goes to a lawyer or judge who had a distinct impact on the law and legal profession in 2018. Gibson’s recognition comes on the heels of recent successes in the nationally-watched City of Philadelphia sanctuary city case against the Department of Justice, resulting in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals’ affirmation of a permanent injunction preserving crucial grant funding for the city law enforcement programs, as well as the trial court’s adoption of the theory in her amicus brief that the “doctrine of chances” allowed for admitting other victim testimony in the sexual assault trial that led to conviction of Bill Cosby.
The “Lawyers on the Fast Track” award recognizes the next generation of Pennsylvania lawyers who have made significant contributions to the legal community through their advancement of the law, leadership, and pro bono efforts. Gittens was selected based on her active litigation practice and civic work, including initiatives involving the Public Interest Law Center and the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group, counseling of refugees in immigration proceedings, challenging the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s rescission of a rule aimed at decreasing racial segregation in the U.S. housing market, and founding a food pantry in Southern New Jersey.
Gibson and Gittens are both members of the Litigation team in Philadelphia and have played key roles in a wide variety of high-profile matters both inside and outside the state of Pennsylvania.
