Sharon Lewis receives Lifetime Achievement Award at the IFLR Awards Europe 2022

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises those at senior leadership level in a legal team who have made a significant impact on the market practice, shaped standards and influenced the market legal framework, and played an important role in mentoring the next generation of lawyers.

Sharon is the Global Head of the Financial Institutions, Insurance & Investments sectors at Hogan Lovells, and was the first woman in the firm to be appointed in the role of Head of Finance. She advises on the full range of capital markets transactions, including several award-winning and industry firsts in debt capital markets, structured finance, derivatives, securitization, repackaging, and other structured products and corporate bonds. She has extensive banking experience, particularly in the fields of  secured lending, loan restructuring, and debt trading. Sharon also has a strong practice in automotive-related financing, insurance-linked securities, energy-related lending, and debt restructuring.

Collecting her award in person last night, Sharon thanked her sponsors, mentors and allies, as well as her clients who have shared in her achievements. She commented: “I truly believe that there will be profound change in our industry over the next few years, and that we need to embrace that change, particularly as regards the disruption being brought about by increasing digitalisation, blockchain, legal tech, ESG and generational shift. Willingness to embrace change has been a key driver of my career, and I am grateful to have been surrounded by colleagues and clients with the same outlook”.
