Riding High: Afghan National Women’s Cycling Team

13 November 2015

DENVER, 13 November 2015 – Hogan Lovells is proud to announce that the Afghan National Women's Cycling team, a pro bono client of the firm, has been named one of the Adventurers of the Year, by National Geographic Adventure.

For more than a decade, National Geographic has spun the globe to find the Adventurers of the Year, each selected for his or her remarkable achievement in exploration, adventure sports, conservation, and humanitarianism.

It’s a pleasure to work with the Afghan Women's Cycling team as a pro bono client,” said Hogan Lovells partner John Cook in Colorado Springs. “We want to share our congratulations to the team in their recognition as Adventurers of the Year and hope to continue to facilitate the realization of their dream of attending and eventually participating in the Olympic Games.”

London based Senior Consultant Susan Whitehead, added:

"Hogan Lovells embraces the opportunity to be an agent for change for gender equality. Through our Empowering Girls and Women Initiative we want to play a role in narrowing the gender gap which has negatively affected the economic, social, and political position of girls and women. Helping the Afghan National Women's Cycling team achieve their goals demonstrates our commitment."
