Knowledge is key - Hogan Lovells appoints global Head of Knowledge Management

[London, Washington] Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that Katja Ullrich-North will be joining the firm on 6 February in the newly created role of Global Head of Knowledge Management.  She will oversee international knowledge strategy across the firm’s global network of more than 45 offices – including responsibility for working with our global business development and industry sector teams to drive and co-ordinate the dissemination of information to clients.

Katja’s appointment emphasizes the importance of knowledge and research to the firm and its clients.  The global team supports over 3,500 lawyers and over 2,500 members of business services globally and also many of the firm's clients with research and intelligence.

Having commenced her career in knowledge management at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Katja brings over 15 years of experience both as a lawyer and as a knowledge management professional to the role.  She has previously held senior roles at Norton Rose Fulbright, Linklaters and Bird & Bird, and was Global Head of Knowledge Management and Learning at UK-based defense contractor BAE Systems.

Commenting on Katja’s appointment, David Hudd, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Hogan Lovells, said: “The value of a comprehensive, integrated and state-of-the-art approach to knowledge management cannot be underestimated.  Hiring Katja is an important investment for Hogan Lovells.  We are highly valued by our clients for helping them to stay one step ahead of any critical developments in their sector – our Cyber Risk Services team, Constitutional Change Taskforce and Unmanned Aircraft Systems group are testament to that.   Having someone with Katja's experience take on a new global role to ensure that our knowledge sharing is even more focused and collaborative is critical to us maintaining that high standard.”

Speaking on her arrival at Hogan Lovells, Katja added: “Hogan Lovells understands the crucial role that timely and accurate information plays in business.  The global Knowledge Management team is first class and highly valued by the firm's clients, lawyers and business development team.   I am looking forward to working with them to ensure that the work that the team does continues to be a critical part of our client offering."
