Hogan Lovells Wins New Round of Project Financing Awards from IFLR and Latin Lawyer

06 April 2012

NEW YORK, 5 April 2012 – Hogan Lovells announced today that it received the “Project Finance Deal of the Year” award from International Financial Law Review (IFLR) for the Brazilian Embraport financing it advised on in 2011. The award was announced at IFLR’s Americas Awards ceremony on 29 March, 2012. Hogan Lovells was also nominated for its work on the Peruvian Taboada wastewater treatment plant project and won the same award at the IFLR Americas Awards in 2011 for its work on the Peruvian Huascacocha project finance transaction.

Hogan Lovells also was recognized with a “Project Finance Deal of the Year” award for its role on the project by Latin Lawyer at the publication’s sixth annual charity awards event held on 29 March, 2012.

With these latest recognitions, the Embraport financing has received four separate “Deal of the Year” awards from leading industry publications in the past several months.

Hogan Lovells partner Robert Ripin (New York) advised the security trustee, The Bank of New York Mellon, on the $786 million aggregate loan facilities established by Embraport Empresa Brasileira de Terminals Portuarios S.A. to construct and operate a new private mixed-use container and liquids terminal in Brazil's Port of Santos. Embraport previously was named the “2011 Transport Deal of the Year—Americas” by Project Finance International and “Latin American Transport Deal of the Year for 2011” by Project Finance magazine.
