Hogan Lovells wins CSR Programme of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2019

London, 29 March 2019 - Hogan Lovells scooped the award for 'CSR Programme of the Year' at the Legal Business Awards 2019.

The award recognises the firm's shared value partnership with Indian social enterprise Barefoot College, which trains rural women as solar engineers at their campus in Rajasthan. The partnership aims to bring clean, renewable light to 200,000 people in 35 countries through the Barefoot solar mamas. To date, the partnership has trained 384 women from 35 countries and seen 99 lawyers provide 1,300 hours of pro bono advice to enable Barefoot to open four additional training centres in Africa.

Yasmin Waljee, International Pro Bono Director at Hogan Lovells, said: "We understand that businesses have much to contribute and can often lead the way when it comes to social change. We are grateful for the recognition and look forward to continuing to make a difference where it matters."

At the ceremony in London's Grosvenor House Hotel last night (28 March), the firm was also Highly Commended in the Commercial Litigation Team of the Year category for successfully representing ENRC in its appeal against the Serious Fraud Office over legal professional privilege. ENRC's victory will have a major impact on how companies prepare internal investigations in the future. The team representing ENRC, led by partner Michael Roberts, also includes Elaine Penrose, Reuben Vandercruyssen, Edward Hickman, Alex Hohl, Isabel Lewin Smith and Katie Skeels.

The awards follow feedback gathered from an expert judging panel, comprising senior in-house counsel from a range of industries.
