21 April 2015
WASHINGTON, D.C., 21 April 2015 – Hogan Lovells is proud to announce that Washington, D.C. Corporate partner and CEO Emeritus Warren Gorrell has been named “Dealmaker of the Week” by The American Lawyer.
Gorrell was recognized for assembling, coordinating, and leading a team of more than 75 Hogan Lovells lawyers around the world in advising General Electric on the sale of its global real estate equity and debt portfolio. It is the largest M&A deal in the real estate industry since 2007 and the second largest ever.
The transaction was enormously complex, involving more than 500 properties, 75 joint ventures, and more than US$17 billion of commercial mortgage loans in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Canada, Mexico, and Australia, having a total transaction value between US$23 and US$27 billion.
Additionally, the transaction was put together and negotiated in a very short time and required tremendous teamwork to put together a transaction as large and complex as this one. The closings will occur from May 2015 through the end of the year.
Gorrell has advised GE on M&A deals for almost 15 years, including leading the legal work for several deals over the years when he was the Chairman and then Co-CEO of Hogan Lovells.
The American Lawyer's “Dealmaker of the Week” highlights a lawyer who oversees the most noteworthy and complex deal, both in terms of its monetary value and its importance to the client's business strategy. Gorrell’s full profile can be viewed by clicking here.
