Hogan Lovells Supports Penny for London

03 November 2014

3 November 2014 - Hogan Lovells has advised the Mayor's Fund for London on the Penny for London campaign, launched on 29 October by Boris Johnson.

Penny for London encourages Londoners to sign up to the Penny for London website (www.pennyforlondon.com) and donate from as little as 1p per day or per transaction when using contactless credit or debit cards on the tube or bus and with registered retailers. Funds raised go towards improving the education and employability of young people in London through charities and programmes carefully selected by the Mayor's Fund for London (see www.mayorsfundforlondon.org.uk for further information about current projects).

Hogan Lovells London corporate commercial partner Paul Joukador, senior associate Helen Kimberley and associate Patrick Carter, with assistance from Hogan Lovells London data protection, tax and regulatory financial institutions teams have provided significant legal support to Mayor's Fund for London for it to launch the scheme, including advising on and drafting the underlying commercial agreements and the legal copy for the website.

Commenting on the campaign, Paul said:

"Penny for London is a fantastic and innovative campaign that combines the latest technology with charitable giving by Londoners for Londoners. We are actively encouraging all our staff to participate as supporting our local community is a key Citizenship goal for us."

David Saidman, Chief Operating Officer, Penny for London added:

Often support partners in major events are forgotten once the marketing activity takes hold. The initial and continued success of Penny for London is dependent upon organisations with the attitude and approach of Hogan Lovells. Their contribution has been greatly appreciated and we look forward to continuing our relationship as Penny for London grows.”

Good Citizenship is one of Hogan Lovells' global business values and Hogan Lovells is committed to supporting local London charities, including:

• London's Air Ambulance - charity of the year
• St. Luke's Trust
