ULAANBAATAR, 12 April 2012 – London-based Corporate partner Chris Melville relocates to the Ulaanbaatar office from April 2012 to further strengthen the firm's capabilities in Mongolia.
Chris has extensive experience of M&A, joint ventures and corporate finance across a number of sectors, including in energy and natural resources. His experience has been focused on advising clients on cross-border M&A and investments relating to the Russian Federation, where he has advised on some of the most high-profile transactions over the past five years.
Working closely with Ulaanbaatar managing partner Michael Aldrich, Chris' relocation forms an integral part of the firm's strategy to support international clients operating in and around the rapidly developing Mongolian economy.
Commenting on the move, Crispin Rapinet, Regional Managing Partner, Asia and Middle East, said:
"Chris has many years of experience advising clients in emerging markets like Russia, including a period spent there in the late 1990’s. His experience will add further breadth and depth to Hogan Lovells' top-tier practice in Mongolia."
"Hogan Lovells already has significant presence and capability in Mongolia with an impressive client roster. I am very much looking forward to working with the team on the ground to build on this momentum."
Hogan Lovells is the first global law firm to establish a permanent presence in Mongolia and is currently advising on a number of significant foreign direct investment transactions and projects across various sectors including energy and natural resources, and financial services.
