Hogan Lovells Strengthens New York Finance Practice

01 August 2011

LONDON, 1 August 2011 - London-based infrastructure and project finance partner Mike Matheou will relocate to New York in October 2011 as an integral part of Hogan Lovells' strategy to strengthen its Finance practice in New York

This follows the recent addition of significant infrastructure and project finance teams in Hogan Lovells' London and Houston offices, and the strengthening of the Middle East practice with the relocation of partner Christopher Cross to Dubai.

Mike has over 30 years' experience in international infrastructure, and was a founder of the Lovells infrastructure and project finance practice in London in the early 1990s.  Since then, he has worked on projects in the UK, continental Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.  Mike's work has had a particular focus on cutting edge projects in the public-private partnership/P3 market, working across a range of sectors including transportation, education, healthcare, defence and government accommodation, acting for Government, private sector bidders and financiers.

Working closely with an experienced project finance team spread across the firm's network of 12 US offices, Mike will build on Hogan Lovells' existing presence in the sector on infrastructure and P3 projects across the Americas.

Commenting on the move, Adrian Walker, London-based Co-Head of Hogan Lovells' Global Infrastructure and Project Finance team said:

"Mike has been recognised as one of the leading lawyers in the privately financed infrastructure sector for many years.  We are convinced that the combination of Mike's skills and experience coupled with the depth of our existing US infrastructure and public finance team presents clients with a combination of global experience and local knowledge that no other firm can replicate."

Miguel Zaldivar, Hogan Lovells' Miami-based Co-Head the Global Infrastructure and Project Finance team said:

“We are delighted to welcome Mike. Mike's addition to the skills and experience of our existing team will significantly enhance our offering here at a time when public-private partnerships are now a recognised tool to develop and finance infrastructure projects in the Americas generally, and across the US in particular."
