Hogan Lovells Strengthens Energy Practice in Hamburg
25 October 2011
25 October 2011 - Frankfurt project finance partner Dr. Christian Knütel is moving in November to the Hamburg office as part of Hogan Lovells' strategy to further strengthen its global infrastructure and project finance practice in its major jurisdictions.
This follows the recent addition of significant infrastructure and project finance teams in Hogan Lovells' London and Houston offices, focusing specifically on the energy sector.
Christian will be joined in Hamburg by associate Dr. Carla Luh, bringing project finance capacity to the Hamburg office for the first time, and considerably strengthening the Hamburg energy practice group.
Christian is well-known for advising on prestigious public private partnership (PPP) projects, including the first ever Swiss PPP project - Neumatt Cantonal Administrative Center Burgdorf - as well as on renewable energy and offshore projects. He recently advised inter alia on the financing of the Borkum West II offshore wind farm – the first ever project financing of a German offshore wind farm.
Christian and Carla will work closely with the existing energy team in Hamburg, led by partner Matthias Hirschmann, which, as of November, will consist of two partners, one counsel and six associates.
Commenting on the move, Matthias Hirschmann, Head of energy in Germany, said:
"Christian and Carla will be a great addition to the Hamburg energy team, with this move marking a milestone for the "Offshore Expertise Centre" in Hamburg."
"I very much look forward to working with our Hamburg energy team to further develop our mutual practice, particularly in relation to our offshore wind and energy projects and financing offering".
