Hogan Lovells Recruits High Profile Capital Markets Team in Frankfurt

LONDON, 21 January 2011 - Hogan Lovells has hired a capital markets team, led by Michael Schlitt. The team will be based in the Frankfurt office and will join Hogan Lovells International LLP on 1 February 2011.
Prof. Dr. Michael Schlitt has been a partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in Frankfurt since October 2008. He advises investment banks and international groups of companies on capital markets matters.
His practice focuses on international capital markets transactions, particularly IPOs, rights issues and convertible, exchangeable, hybrid and high-yield bond placements, as well as public takeovers. He is recognised as a leading capital markets lawyer by Chambers, Legal 500, IFLR, JUVE and PLC’s Capital Markets Handbook. He is honorary professor at the University of Cologne.
Dr. Susanne Schäfer has been a national partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP since October 2008. She has broad experience in domestic and international capital markets transactions such as IPOs and rights issues, but also specialises in equity-linked instruments, including convertible bonds and exchangeable bonds.
In the recent past, Michael and Susanne have worked on various high profile corporate finance transactions, advising:
· Salzgitter AG on its exchangeable bond;
· Commerzbank and Morgan Stanley on the rights issues of Rhön-Klinikum; AG and DIC Asset AG;
· Credit Suisse in relation to the capital increase of Roth & Rau AG;
· Commerzbank in relation to the refinancing of Schaeffler-Group;
· Munich Re on its sale of shares in Admiral plc;
· UBS in relation to the convertible bond of Colonia Real Estate.
In addition to Michael and Susanne, the team comprises Dr. Christian Ries (Counsel), Dr. Cornelia Ernst (senior associate), Dr. Thorsten Becker (senior associate), Dr. Roman Kasten (associate) and Franziska Neumann (associate). They join with three paralegals and trainees.
With the arrival of the team the German capital markets practice will have six partners and 11 other counsel and associates. Michael Schlitt will be Head of Capital Markets Germany.
