Hogan Lovells Planning Partners Recognised in New List of the Most Powerful Individuals in UK Planning

12 March 2013

LONDON, 12 March 2013 – Hogan Lovells planning partners, Michael Gallimore and Claire Dutch, have been named in Planning Magazine's "Power 100".  The Power 100 comprises the 100 individuals in the UK with the greatest influence over planning policy and decision-making.  Gallimore and Dutch are two of just six solicitors making the list, with Hogan Lovells the only law firm with more than one individual listed.

The Power 100 includes figures such as the Prime Minister, David Cameron, Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, and Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.  The list was produced for the first time by Planning Magazine following many weeks of research and off-the-record conversations with senior figures in the real estate sector.

Michael Gallimore is recognised for advising the London Legacy Development Corporation on its Olympic Park legacy scheme and for consistently featuring amongst the top two planning solicitors in Planning's annual legal survey for the last eight years.

Claire is praised for her role as Chair of the Joint Planning Law Conference committee, where she heads a group that runs a key annual planning conference.  The group is an unrivalled network of planning professionals drawn from the Law Society, the Bar Council, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

Several key clients of Hogan Lovells also feature in the list, including:

  • Alison Nimmo, CEO of The Crown Estate
  • Tony Pidgley, Chairman of Berkeley Group
  • Emma Carriaga, Development Director of Land Securities
  • Adrian Penfold, Head of Planning, British Land.

The Power 100 follows closely behind recognition of Hogan Lovells' at the recent London Planning Awards 2012/13.  The awards, presented by Boris Johnson at a ceremony at City Hall on 31 January 2013, saw the Hogan Lovells planning team recognised for its role on three major London schemes including:

  • London Legacy Development Corporation - Legacy Communities Scheme for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
  • Ballymore Group - The Embassy Gardens project in Nine Elms
  • Argent - The Granary Square scheme at King's Cross
