Philadelphia, 5 December 2019 – International law firm Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that the firm’s Philadelphia office has won The American Lawyer Regional Litigation Department of the Year for Pennsylvania.

The American Lawyer noted the office’s “growth into new practice areas in the Philadelphia area is paying off as it brings in big wins for clients in a variety of matters.”

“This is tremendous recognition for the outstanding work our office has done in the last 18 months,” said Philadelphia Litigation partner Stephen Loney after he picked up the award. “On top of this award, our office has made several significant hires over the last year across our Litigation, Corporate, and Bankruptcy, Restructuring, and Insolvency practices, so we expect more great things to come from this very talented team of lawyers.”

The Philadelphia office was honored for its high profile litigation wins including fighting to prevent the loss of federal funding over the Philadelphia’s “Sanctuary City” status; a notable contribution at the trial of actor and comedian Bill Cosby; its representation of Globus Medical, Inc. in a suit against one of its former exclusive distributors; and its win on behalf of Homeland, part of the OneBeacon Insurance Group, in an appeal to the Delaware Supreme Court.

The firm was also shortlisted for its litigation work with pharmaceuticals company Mylan in the Client Collaboration category, and for its regulatory advice in the development of an affordable treatment for River Blindness in the Pro Bono category.
