Hogan Lovells partners featured in The Lawyer's Hot 100 2018

Hogan Lovells partners Daniel Brook and Michael Roberts have been included in The Lawyer's Hot 100 list, published today. The prestigious list from leading UK legal magazine The Lawyer celebrates the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers in the UK from private practice, in-house and the Bar.

Daniel Brook is a patent litigator in the UK and was recognized by The Lawyer for leading on Eli Lilly's landmark patent trial against pharmaceutical rival Actavis, and brought Eli Lilly to victory with the case being heard in the Supreme Court in 2017 after five years of litigation.

The Lawyer commented: "The case is ongoing for Brook, who continues to litigate on behalf of Eli Lilly’s patent protection across a number of European jurisdictions. Working on nine separate actions as it stands, Brook is playing a pivotal role in the case of the decade in patent litigation."

Commercial litigation partner Michael Roberts was recognized for his landmark win between the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) and Russian businessman Sergei Pugachev where Roberts acted for the DIA.

The Lawyer commented: "Michael Roberts was the star of Hogan Lovells’ litigation last year. One of his cases that gained national attention was that between his client the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) and Russian oligarch and “Putin’s banker” Sergei Pugachev."

Roberts was also recognized by The Lawyer for being "at the forefront of one of the biggest debates in the legal world when he defends the Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation (ENRC) in its appeal against the ground-breaking decision on litigation privilege."

Michael Roberts commented: "Daniel and I are delighted with today's recognition. It is a privilege that we have worked on such ground breaking cases. However it is testament to the deep expertise we have at Hogan Lovells and the quality of practitioners in our practices that has led us to being successful for our clients."
