Global law firm Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that the International Bar Association (IBA) has appointed Partner Samaa Haridi as 2020 Senior Vice-Chair of the Arbitration Committee during its Annual Meeting in Seoul. Ms. Haridi will become Co-Chair of the IBA Arbitration Committee in 2021-2022.

During her tenure on the latter subcommittee, she oversaw the publication of the IBA’s Report on Consistency, Efficiency and Transparency in Investment Treaty Arbitration, which was released by the IBA in November 2018. The Report discusses the salient issues facing investment arbitration and offers proposed solutions on matters of concern raised by users of investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS).

The IBA Arbitration Committee, which counts more than 3,000 members worldwide, has been a leading standard-setter for the practice of international arbitration globally, including through the Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration, the Guidelines on Conflicts of Interest in International Arbitration, and the Guidelines on Party Representation in International Arbitration. The IBA Arbitration Committee promotes the use of international arbitration through its conferences, projects, and publications.
