October 23 - The New York Chapter of the Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law honored Hogan Lovells Banking partner Mehtap Cevher Conti with a Leadership Award at the Coalition's 2020 National Leadership Forum held last night.

She was honored for her deep commitment and tireless efforts to promote the ideals and goals of the Coalition, which brings together attorneys from law firms, government agencies, and companies of all sizes who are "intent on joining forces with others to benefit the collective whole." She was particularly effective in outreach to the Coalition's women lawyers to continue their development and growth throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, finding new ways to connect members.

Cevher Conti joined the New York office's Banking group in March, bringing with her over 15 years of experience in finance, particularly aviation finance. She advises banks, investors, aircraft lessors, airlines, and export credit agencies on a broad range of transactions for airlines and operating lessors in multiple jurisdictions. In addition to currently serving as the President of the Coalition's Board of Directors, she is also on the Steering Committee of the Advancing Women in Aviation Roundtable (AWAR).

The National Leadership Forum's virtual event included a keynote address from Susan Herman, President of the American Civil Liberties Union and the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School. Herman delivered her keynote, "Spelling Truth Without Ruth: A Discussion of the Contributions of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the Road Ahead Without Her," after Cevher Conti receiving the Leadership Award along with her fellow honoree, LaDonna Lusher, a partner at Virginia & Ambinder LLP in New York. The Coalition also honored Justice Tanya R. Kennedy, Appellate Division, First Department of the State of New York, with the 2020 Inspiration Award.
