Hogan Lovells Partner and Client Win 2011 PAR Flex Success Award

WASHINGTON, D.C., 4 April 2010 – Hogan Lovells US LLP is proud to announce that the Project For Attorney Retention (PAR) has awarded Alice Valder Curran, a partner in Hogan Lovells’ Washington, D.C. office, and Dorothy Watson, General Counsel of long-time client Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, as an attorney-client team with one of only two PAR Flex Success Awards for 2011.

The Flex Success Award recognizes the crucial role clients play in making workplace flexibility a reality by honoring those attorney-client relationships that best exemplify how with client support, lawyers can work reduced hours on flexible schedules, deliver exceptional legal services, and have extraordinarily successful careers.

“Alice has worked on a reduced schedule since she started at Hogan Lovells and has managed to make partner, serve on two internal leadership teams, and, most importantly, focus on building strong and long-lasting client relationships,” said Isabel P. Dunst, Head of Hogan Lovells’ Health practice. “She is a wonderful role model not only to other lawyers looking to work on a flexible schedule, but all lawyers.”

“I am incredibly honored to be receiving this award and pleased that it recognizes Dorothy and me as part of a team,” said Curran. “Of course, a flexible schedule only works when a client understands that it puts no limitations on the dedication and hard work we, as lawyers, offer them. Dorothy and her team are perfect examples of this.”

PAR is an initiative of the Center for WorkLife Law at the University of California Hastings College of Law in San Francisco. PAR works to advance women lawyers and reduce attrition by improving work-life balance for all lawyers. This is the third year PAR has given the Flex Success Award.
