Hogan Lovells Participates in The Angel Tree Programme

27 January 2012

Singapore, 26 January 2012 – In December 2011, Hogan Lovells’ Singapore office partnered with Prison Fellowship International in bringing festive cheer to the children whose parents are incarcerated.

Every year, through no fault of theirs, many children are separated from their parents.  Needless to say, a vast majority of the children come from low income families.  The Angel Tree Programme includes a variety of year-round events such as Christmas parties, camping and mentoring projects designed to help these innocent victims of crime and prevent them from becoming involved in crime when they grow up.  Children of prisoners are statistically at a greater risk of going to prison later in life than their peers.

During the donation drive, a number of Christmas tags which were effectively promises of a present, were hung on a Christmas tree in our reception area.  Donors then picked a tag and gave the dollar value.

From the donation drive and sale of our used office furniture, we successfully raised S$5,000 which went towards the purchase of gifts such as socks, school uniforms, groceries, dictionaries and a day trip to the zoo for the children.
