Hogan Lovells only law firm named to 2019 Civic 50 by Points of Light
Washington, D.C., 17 June 2019 – For the second year in a row, Hogan Lovells is the only law firm to be recognized as one of the 50 most community minded firms in the United States by Points of Light, which today honored the 2019 Civic 50 at its annual Points of Light Conference.
Hogan Lovells also is being awarded for the second time with the 2019 Volunteer Leader Award. The firm stands out for its "unmatched investment of employees’ time and talent in the communities and causes" supported by the firm, according to Points of Light.
"Our commitment to corporate social responsibility provides shared value for our people, our business, and our communities," said Hogan Lovells Citizenship Program Manager, Erika Bowman. "As a global law firm, we recognize that our continued success owes much to the diversity of our people, and our civic activities enable us to build a strong sense of togetherness and crucial connections to our local communities."
Civic 50 honorees are public and private companies with U.S. operations and revenues of USD$1 billion or more, and are selected based on four dimensions of their U.S. community engagement program, including investment, integration, institutionalization, and impact.
Hogan Lovells asks its lawyers and business services professionals to dedicate at least 25 hours per year to pro bono legal and non-legal volunteer activities. Our people dedicated more than 227,000 hours to our Citizenship program globally in 2018. In the United States, our volunteers dedicated significant time and resources to support families fleeing violence and persecution in Central America among other efforts. The firm’s global civic responsibility strategy works toward the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals designed to end poverty, fight inequality, and tackle climate change.
Points of Light — the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, with affiliates in 250 cities across 37 countries — was formed following President George H.W. Bush’s “thousand points of light” inaugural speech.
"The Civic 50 truly highlights the commitment of community and civic engagement of America’s leading brands," said Points of Light president and CEO Natalye Paquin. "Points of Light believes that people drive change in addressing society’s growing and most profound challenges. The business community plays an important role in creating and delivering innovative solutions that drive social good in the communities where they live and work."
