Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee to Scale New Heights for Charity

27 August 2013

SINGAPORE, 28 August 2013 – On Saturday 28 September, a team of Hogan Lovells Lee & Lee lawyers and clients will attempt to scale Mount Rinjani, Lombok, Indonesia, to raise funds for MILK – a charity which supports disadvantaged children in Singapore and overseas.

Mount Rinjani is Indonesia’s second highest active volcano at 3,726m.  The climb is challenging and the team will need to negotiate a combined ascent and descent of over 5000m in about 32 hours and a night in tents on the mountainside.

The group hopes to raise over S$50,000, with Hogan Lovells also contributing directly through its Touch funding program.

Partner Alexander McMyn, organiser of this charity climb, said:

“It is important that law firms take an active role within the communities in which they operate.  Hogan Lovells is rightly proud of its award-winning global community investment programme.  It is inspiring that our Singapore team is contributing so effectively and we are deeply flattered that our clients have chosen to join us in supporting MILK through this demanding trek.”

About MILK

MILK reaches out to disadvantaged children and youth, both in Singapore and overseas, with the ambition to develop them into active, participating members of society.  Typically the children come from troubled or low-income families or impoverished communities and are often caught in a downward cycle.  MILK assists them with education, care and guidance, vocational and livelihood development and with other special needs, providing the support needed to break the cycle and fulfill potential.  MILK works with local specialist partners – including Beyond Social Services, Centre for Enabled Living, the Compassion Fund and Assumption Pathway – who have the expert knowledge to deliver the services directly where they are needed.  For further details, see www.milk.org.sg.
