Press releases | 20 January 2020

London, 20 January 2020 – Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that the firm has partnered with mental health and wellbeing platform, Unmind, as part of our Global Wellbeing Strategy (HL Thrive) to support our people to thrive in the workplace and prevent poor mental health.

The firm will launch the free-to-use, work-focused platform through mobile and desktop devices to all people in its Amsterdam, Birmingham, Brussels, London, and Tokyo offices on 20th January. Later in the year, the firm plans to extend use of the platform to other offices.

Unmind is designed to enable individuals to assess, track, and manage their wellbeing over time, offering positive and preventative solutions. It proactively caters to an individual's needs, providing tools and training that includes: help with sleep and nutrition, coping with work and life stressors, and supporting others.

Head of Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing, Julie Thomas, said: "I am delighted to announce our partnership with Unmind. Providing our people with the right tools at the right time enables them to maintain good mental health practices and prevent ill health, which is fundamental for overall wellbeing and productivity. This is part of our wider global commitment to create a workplace environment where everyone can thrive, and ensuring we are a firm fit for the future."

It follows the firm's initiative to appoint a cohort of Mental Health First Aiders 2019 who are trained to recognise the signs of poor mental health and feel confident and equipped to support and signpost colleagues, clients and each other towards help.

The firm is also a founder signatory to the Mindful Business Charter (MBC) which was created to remove unnecessary sources of workplace stress and promote better mental health and wellbeing and complements our existing wellbeing programme.

Further Hogan Lovells is an active supporter of the Mental Health First Aid England and the City Mental Health Alliance (CMHA), with Regional Managing Partner for the UK & Africa, Susan Bright, currently sitting on the Board.

Other significant initiatives implemented by the firm included relaunching it's Anti-Bullying and Harassment Policy, developing and mandating workshops for all UK partners and senior leaders and the roll-out of a new online anti-bullying and harassment web based learning module to all staff in June 2019.
