Press releases | 30 June 2021

London/Washington D.C., 30 June 2021 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells has launched a COVID-19 global emergency fundraising appeal to support its long-standing partner Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders.

As the pandemic continues to impact countries and communities around the world, the firm’s global emergency fundraising appeal aims to support MSF in bringing life-saving assistance and protection to vulnerable people.

In line with the firm’s Disaster Relief Policy, the value of donations from our people at Hogan Lovells, totalling nearly US$19k, will be matched by the firm bringing our fundraising total to US$37k. All funds raised will be specifically earmarked to MSF's emergency COVID-19 response.

MSF is an international, medical humanitarian organization working in more than 70 countries around the world, and provide free medical care to people who need it. MSF’s teams are directly responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in over 40 countries focusing on three main priorities:

• Supporting health authorities to provide care for patients with COVID-19;

• Protecting people who are vulnerable and at risk, and;

• Keeping essential medical services running.

Leading on the firm’s fundraising appeal is London-based partner Elaine Penrose and Washington D.C.-based partner Amy Roma.

Commenting, Elaine Penrose said: “We would like to thank our people for their wonderful generosity in support of our fundraising appeal. As many of the countries in which we operate continue to roll out their vaccination programs with life edging ever closer to normality, others aren’t so fortunate. We are humbled to be able to make our contribution in supporting MSF’s critical humanitarian work.”

Amy Roma added: “Most recently, we have witnessed the devastating impact of COVID-19 in India where the health system is unable to cope. Our fundraising appeal in support of MSF to assist communities in crises caused by COVID-19 and natural disasters is part of the firm’s strategic priority in delivering on our commitments as a responsible business. We are delighted to match the generous response from our people and driving our strategic fundraising partnerships forward.”

Hogan Lovells other strategic fundraising partnerships includes that with PeaceTech Lab, the firm’s current global nonprofit partner. At a local level, each of the firm’s offices choose a nonprofit in their community to work with.
