HOGAN LOVELLS HOSTED ALUMNI RECEPTION AT THE OCCASION OF HOGAN LOVELLS FIFTH ANNIVERSARY

22 October 2015

BEIJING, 22 OCTOBER 2015 – Hogan Lovells hosted a very successful Alumni Reception (the "Event") at the occasion of Hogan Lovells Fifth Anniversary celebration.

The Event was hosted by the Hogan Lovells Beijing office at the JW Marriott Hotel from 6:00pm-10:00pm on 22 October, local time. This was the first time the Beijing office held an official alumni reunion since the firm's combination between Hogan & Hartson and Lovells in 2010. 120 current and former colleagues joined the Event to reconnect and celebrate. Beijing office managing partner Jun Wei and the firm's CEO Stephen Immelt delivered welcome speeches to all distinguished guests.

Of note, Ms Wei offered the following words in celebration of the firm's alumni:

Former colleagues of a firm are typically described by the word "alumni". It is an ok word. I prefer to think of us, though, as "family", because this evokes additional layers of richness and texture that we experience by having worked together in our firm's distinctively supportive and collegial environment. Our work is our blood, sweat and tears, and the relationships we form by working side by side have a depth and richness to them. So I like the word family, because it evokes mutual support, growing up together, and close, lasting ties

These ties are not broken when we leave the firm, but instead remain with us. That's why we felt it important to have this event tonight, a family reunion of sorts, to give us the opportunity to see each other again, to revisit old memories looking backward, and to reinforce and make new ties tonight looking forward.

The Event not only provided a valuable opportunity for the firm's colleagues, both past and present, to reminisce about their time at Hogan Lovells and celebrate the firm's history, but to also kindle new friendships amongst members of the larger Hogan Lovells family.
