Hogan Lovells Honored with “Private Equity Deal of The Year” Award by Latin Lawyer

WASHINGTON, D.C., 21 March 2013 – Hogan Lovells is proud to announce it has been recognized with the “Private Equity Deal of the Year” award by Latin Lawyer.

Hogan Lovells was commended for its representation of Tiendas Efe, the Peruvian household appliance chain, in acquiring a 75 percent interest in rival Total Artefactos, the company that operates under the popular La Curacao brand. In the deal, which closed on 20 December 2012, Tiendas Efe paid US$150 million for the acquisition over the Lima Stock Exchange. Tiendas Efe was joined by a consortium of private equity funds belonging to Linzor Capital Partners, Grupo Wiese, and PQ Investments in funding the acquisition.
The acquisition allowed Tiendas Efe to become the market leader in appliance retailing in Peru and absorb Total Artefactos’ 91 stores nationwide.

The Latin Lawyer Deal of the Year Awards recognize general counsel and law firms advising on the most significant deals across Latin America. This year’s winners were announced at the publication’s 7th Annual Charity Awards Ceremony on 19 March 2013.
